Honeywell Engineering & Science Experience


The HESS program takes place in December each year and brings together 100 Year 11 students from NSW and the ACT who are interested in pursuing engineering as a career to a six-day living and studying at the campus of the University of Sydney. HESS is an initiative supported by Engineers Australia-Sydney Division. This committee is responsible for the promotion of the interact program by encouraging Rotary clubs to become involved in the formation and operation of interact clubs. Interact is a Rotary sponsored international program for service minded young people between 15 and 18 years or in the final years of their secondary schooling.

MUNA - Model United Nations Assembly


This committee organises and arranges and assembly which simulates the workings of the United Nations. The aim of MUNA is to build bridges of goodwill for world peace and understanding in the minds of youth as they research, debate and speak to a wide range of contemporary world issues.

NYSF - National Youth Science Forum


This committee is responsible for the promotion, selection and briefing of talented year 11 students to attend the two-week national science programn during the summer vacation. The program provides a unique experience for approximately 420 of Australia's best students who are interested in science.

The aim of this competition is to broaden the year 11 student's public speaking experience. The speaking topic is of the competitor's own choice but must relate to one or more of the principles in the Rotary 4-way test

RANZE - Australia & New Zealand Exchange Program


This committee is responsible for matching exchange students with students from New Zealand. Each student spends 14 weeks living in the homer eg, and attending school with their exchange partner. The exchanges are 'direct exchanges' ( the family of the exchange student going overseas will host an exchange student from the other country)

Risk Management/Child Protection


This committee will be responsible for assisting clubs with the smooth implementation of the Working With Children Checks (WWCC) and all matters relating to the compliance of clubs in this matter and the record keeping of compliance from each clubs notification of the New Working With Children Checks being implemented. This committee will also assist with interviews of students involved in youth programs when required, in particular those returning from exchange programs overseas. The committee will assist with risk management for clubs who are under taking youth programs in District 9650 if required and create a Child Protection and Risk management policy for D9650 which may be adopted by clubs for their use.

Science & Engineering Challenge


Rotary has been a critical part of the Science and Engineering Challenge since its inception. The Challenge would not exist without the support of approximately 2500 Rotary volunteers across Australia. In most regions, local Rotary clubs take the lead role in organising the Challenge events. They bring together local communities, businesses, schools, professional organisations and universities to support the Challenge financially and organisationally. Challenge Days are held in Armidale, Inverell, Kempsey, Narrabri, Woolgoolga, Tamworth & Taree Discovery Days are held in Armidale, Kempsey, Narrabri, Tamworth & Taree
